Best known for creating popular children’s books, award-winning author/illustrator Maurice Sendak continues to inspire the imagination, believing that illustrations should add to the mystery of a story.  He also produced operas and ballets, including turning "Where the Wild Things Are" into a popular opera, as well as designing a winning production of Tchaikovsky’s ballet, "The Nutcracker." Held in high regard, Sendak is recognized as one of the most inventive, challenging voices in children's literature.
