Salvador Dali (1904 – 1989), in his signature Critical-Paranoiac style, merged hallucination with reality in creating the incredible double-image, “Swans Reflecting Elephants.” Redefining Surrealism, Dali’s work explored the unconscious world of thoughts, dreams and perception in fanciful and nightmarish images influenced by Freud, Cubism, Futurism and metaphysical art. Nearly photographic, his art has been called the epitome of Surrealism.
